Okay, so now that I've discussed my love for shopping my stash, let's talk about actual shopping, right? I like sharing my wishlists around this time of the year (click for my 2014 wishlist) for two main reasons: Sephora VIB sale and uhm, I'm sorry but I have to say this, Christmas shopping. Don't shoot the messenger!
However, this year, I'm having a pretty difficult time finding things I actually want ON the wishlist; at this point in my purchasing habits, it's in fact more of a long-term shopping list, and since starting my beauty and fashion low-buys at the beginning of this year (oh, have I not mentioned that last bit? It wasn't really anything official, except that I think I just made it official by telling you guys...), I find myself incredibly selective with anything I want to bring into my possession. Let's overanalyze together:
1. Surratt Artistique Cheek Brush ($115 at Sephora or Barney's)
I've actually been lusting after this cute pom-pom shaped grey squirrel beauty from the moment I laid my eyes on it late last year at Barney's (read my thoughts on the Surratt brush launch here). This is the only thing I'm planning to purchase during the upcoming Sephora sale; the discount, together with a giftcard I've had squirrelled away for months, makes the high price tag a bit more palatable. I think it will be a nice investment piece for my make-up brush collection: soft, beautiful, high quality AND versatile.
2. Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Pansy Pop ($22 for 0.12 oz)
I've also been itching to try a lavender hue on my cheeks for months; I purchased the shade Pink Pop during the Sephora sale in April, but returned it upon finding out I had at least two very similar shades in my stash already. I really enjoyed the formula though and the compact size of this blush, and I'm hoping Pansy Pop will be more of a unique shade in my collection.
3. Bodetko Lash Serum (149 PLN for 3ml)
A good lash growing serum is now a staple in my beauty routine, and one of those products that I think can make the biggest difference to one's eye make-up. You guys often compliment my lashes in face shots (THANK YOU!) and want to know what mascaras I'm using, but honestly, the fullness and length of my lashes is all down to the regular use of a lash serum. My tube of discontinued LiLash (review here) is almost done, and I've been hearing great things about Bodetko Lash on Polish YouTube, so I asked Santa for this one.
4. LUSH Bubble Bars (Dorothy in the photo, $7.50 for 120g)
Yes, LUSH bath products are terribly overpriced and yes, they're not very good for your skin either. I have said before how I wasn't going to purchase from LUSH anymore and I actually haven't bought anything in about a year and a half, but here's the deal: I miss their Bubble Bars. I LIKE the completely over the top scents and fun things they do with your bath water, okay? I'm still not going to shop for them regularly, but if I can ask for them for Christmas as a little treat, then I don't see why I shouldn't. SO THERE.
5. Buxom Pout Out Loud Lip Set ($19 for 3 x 0.07 oz at Sephora)
I've been waffling over this one for weeks now, because I know I don't need it. HOWEVER. Buxom's Full On lipgloss formula is one of my absolute favorites, and I like how this set comes with one cream finish in a neutral shade (Toddy) and one shimmer finish in a deeper wine (Gabby). I've already used up one of these mini Buxom glosses completely, so I know I can do it before they fall to the back of my drawer and expire. They also included a mini of their new Bold Gel Lipstick in an everyday mauve shade, which also seems like something I would use. Sooo... yeah, I still don't know. I may get it in December with Sephora's $20 off coupon/ gift card thingy, but if it sells out before, then I guess it wasn't meant to be - I may just get a full size of a Lip Cream instead.
6. Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in Starlight ($28 for 0.32 oz)
Now this is something I know I'm going to get plenty of use from. This year has been all about highlighters for me, a product previously ignored in my everyday make-up routine. I currently own two powder highlighters, one warmer champagne (Laura Mercier Baked Highlight, reviewed here) and one silvery pink (Makeup Revolution in Radiant Lights, here), so I think this neutral white pearl would be a good one to add to the mix, and obviously pale enough to suit my fair skintone. I've also been very curious about those powder 'gelee' formulas, which allegedly the Illuminators are as well. I'm currently just waiting to see if Anastasia will do some sort of a deal around Black Friday, but even if they don't, I'll still buy Starlight.
7. Pencil Skirt in a wine/ burgundy shade
Shopping online for a skirt in a merlot/ oxblood shade of red has reminded me why abstaining from shopping altogether is such a neat idea for me personally. Here's how this whole absurd story started: after purging my closet and assessing my fall and winter outfit combos, I decided it would be nice to have another thicker weight skirt, preferrably in a wine color to suit my color palette and go with the rest of my wardrobe. I then spent 15 minutes online looking at skirts, realized the pencil variety must be en vogue at the moment, and promptly purchased one that seemed alright and wasn't too expensive.
When it arrived a couple days later, it turned out that the size was all wrong, but more importantly, I realized that my purchase was not exactly fulfilling some clothes buying guidelines I've tried to set for myself. It was just a cheap, poor quality, fast fashion type of piece I would previously wear for a season and discard. No, this time, I wanted something classic, durable, and versatile. So I sent that one back, and went online again, spending somewhere close to two hours browsing all manners of burgundy red skirts I could find. At this point, I started feeling mad at myself for wasting so much time on that stupid skirt and for yet again trying to find that perfect unicorn item of clothing that would solve all my dressing woes and maybe also make me dinner and rub my feet, and goddammit, I didn't even want it anymore.
And then I felt ridiculous for having spent so much time on researching skirts without any outcome, so in the end, I ordered this Long Knit Pencil Skirt in Royal Red from The Loft when they were having a sale. It was just delivered yesterday, and I *think* I like it. But I'm not sure anymore, having second-guessed myself so much and dispensed all that energy and time on my burgundy skirt dilemma. The Loft skirt is a very nice thick jersey, well made and flattering on. But will the midi length still be fashionable next year, or is it just a fad? See? I really don't know anymore. Please tell me I'm not crazy.
8. Powder Blue Infinity Scarf
Pale blue is another shade in my color palette, and even though I have plenty of scarves, I thought a solid one in that hue would compliment my outifts and tie them together nicely for added interest. I much prefer circle/ infinity design because it's more comfortable to wear (no loose ends falling down or getting twisted and untucked), and just this morning I pulled the trigger on a pretty jersey number from Etsy - I love jersey scarves, so soft and easy to throw on. And by the way, speaking of wardrobe color palettes, would you guys be interested in a post discussing that in more detail? Because I'm considering doing some fashion posts. Yes, really.
And that's it! I'm still struggling with more ideas for Christmas gifts I could suggest to the family; while I do come up with things I would like to buy myself after careful research, I find it much more difficult to give pointers to my loved ones, especially that they're in Poland and thus have access to different stores and merchandise than we do here in the States. Do you guys exchange wishlists with your friends and family, or is it all a total surprise? I used to be firmly in the surprise camp, but after agonizing over things to buy for other people and having received some pressies in the past that were not the best fit, I'm definitely leaning towards wishlists these days. So... what's on your wishlist? I'd love to know... and possibly steal your idea :)

Cute Christmas Gift Idea: Korean Planners and Minted Custom Wall Art
I realize it's probably too late for most people to speak of any gift ideas, but these were just too cute not to share with you - and it's something a little different than beauty! So, even if these ideas are not entirely doable this year, you could keep them in mind for next Holiday season, or even a birthday or other special occasion.
One of the things I like to gift my friends and family for Christmas are cute calendars and planners. I feel that it's something almost everyone uses and needs (especially for the beginning of the new year) but maybe doesn't necessarily want to splurge on a really nice one themselves. In the past, I've gone the classic Moleskine route, but this year I thought I wanted something a little less run-of-the-mill. After a VERY long research session on various websites, Amazon and Etsy, I completely fell down the Korean stationery rabbit hole. I mean really - can you get ANY more adorable than this?!
I ordered all of the planners you see here from the Korean online store Fallindesign, but you can also search for the specific ones on eBay. The downside of ordering through Fallindesign was that I paid about $20 in shipping, while eBay shipping options are often free or very affordable, but the upside was that I was ordering from an established and trustworthy retailer, and my order was delivered within two weeks, everything inside packaged impeccably. The paper quality in all of these planners is great, and I love that they come with a plastic cover; however, please note that the patterned journals are not hard cover, which makes them less sturdy but not as heavy to carry around.
Now, if you DON'T want to go through the hassle of ordering from the evil Bay or a store overseas, I have another option for you. Shortly after I placed my order for these Korean planners, I was contacted by the US-based custom paper goods retailer Minted.com. This was one of those times when I was genuinely happy to hear from a brand I hadn't known about beforehand, because I was sucked into Minted's offerings pretty much instantenously.
Minted.com is like a curated collection of beautiful things from graphic designers all over the world, which you can pick out and customize to fit your own needs. They have everything (do I sound like the Stefon character from SNL?): wall art in a variety of sizes and frames, customizable journals and notebooks, personal stationery, Holiday greeting cards, even fabrics and stickers. Not only are their adorable designs very hard to resist (I challenge you NOT to find something you like on their website!), it makes me feel good that I can contribute to the income of an actual living breathing designer. Here are some of my top picks with links:
Again, it's probably a bit too late to use these ideas for this upcoming Holiday season, but how wonderful would be to pick out a custom gift for your loved one next year? Maybe a weekly planner with their photo and a meaningful quote on the inside cover, or an art print that relates to where they live or what their interests are, or even a personalized stationery for exchanging snail mail. I'm definitely storing these ideas for later.

My Fall 2014/ Sephora VIB Sale Beauty Wishlist
You know nothing, Jon Snow Monika.
This quote pretty much sums up my wishlist this time round. I've been very strict with my beauty purchases for the past two months in anticipation of the annual Sephora 20% off VIB sale and other online retailers' discounts. In the meantime, I've been editing and re-editing my picks, going in circles and chasing my own tail for so long now that I don't know anything anymore. Is this product cool? Do I need it?! More importantly, do I even want it?! I DON'T KNOW.
Let's try to start with the actual necessary purchases, meaning skincare.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads ($30 for 60 pads): I've reviewed these in my acid toner/ exfoliating pads overview here, and stated these were among my absolute favorite daily chemical exfoliants I've tried thus far, which is why a repurchase is in order. I'm currently finishing up the St. Ives pads and still have the Peter Thomas Wroth Un-Wrinkle backed up in the stash, but prefer the latter for the evenings, or at least to rotate with a milder option like the FAB pads.
Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream ($65 for 1.7 oz; wait, wasn't this $55 just a couple months back?!): I'm down to using deluxe samples for my night moisturizer and also detest my current daytime option, so I'm hoping the Goat Milk Cream, which comes highly recommended from Caroline Hirons, will fit somewhere in my routine. I'm kind of balking at the price, but if I don't love it - cheers to Sephora's awesome return policy.
Pixi Glow Tonic Beauty Elixir with Aloe Vera and Ginseng ($29 for 8.5 fl. oz): Another recommendation from Caroline, a relatively clean acid toner with a fantastic price point. The Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid I'm using now in the evenings is on its last legs, so I want to try the Glow Tonic as a replacement. Belly, I hear you're using this now - any thoughts?
Now, for the heart-wrenching wants, meaning make-up.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette ($58 for 3 x 0.11 oz): I've been meaning to pick up one of the Hourglass Ambient blushes and then they released this palette, and I love all three shades. Except, I have this feeling deep down in my gut that as soon as the VIB sale launches online, this is going to be sold out. Maybe I could track it down in store... but maybe I'm too lazy for that. We shall see.
Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium ($22 for 0.10 oz): Yeah yeah, I know that Maybelline has a good dupe for this fiber brow gel - but I've also heard the spoolie is impossible to work with. I guess I prefer to shell out more money and get a product I know I'll love (or do I?). Currently, I have no brow gels in my stash, and I feel that having one would amp up my brow game.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Raw Garden Eyeshadow Palette in Chronos ($59 for 5 x 2g): Spoiler alert, I've already got it :) What can I say, BeautyHabit had a $10 off coupon and I jumped. Review coming next.
Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 ($29 for 6 x 0.05 oz): This is THE product on this wishlist that makes me want to pull my hair out. I would really, really like some good cool neutral matte shadows all in one palette. Naked Basics 2 sounds perfect in that case, I hear you say. Except, the lightest shades are more like medium shades on my skintone, and only half of the palette is really truly cool-toned. So ultimately, I don't think I'll get this one, even though I love the concept. I have a few ideas on how to satisfy my matte craving: a) gather all my neutral mattes in one Z-Palette and use that instead, b) press some of the matte bareMinerals loose shadows I have, c) buy some individual mattes from Inglot and/or KIKO. I may or may not combine all three options *evil laugh*.
Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick Compact ($51 for 0.12 oz): I had this *genius* idea I could finally get one of the Rouge Gs with the $15 off coupon Sephora usually sends out in early December. Except, it now seems that Rouge Gs are online only - and looks like they may be phasing them out entirely?! So, maybe not so genius after all :(
Chikuhodo PS-1 Passion Series Powder Brush ($64): I don't actually own a decent powder brush, and have never owned anything better than a cheap drugstore one. So I think the time has finally come to upgrade, and the price point on the Chikuhodo Passion Series seems not to excessive. I may wait with this purchase until early next year though to space out my spending at least a little bit - or, you know, not have to explain myself too much to the husband.
Now, time for you to spill the beans: what's currently on your beauty wishlist?

Crossing Off That Wishlist: Stila Eye Shadow Compact in Diamond Lil
You know those little useless eyeshadow sample cards you sometimes receive with a Sephora order? I received a Stila one a looong time ago, and just before tossing it straight in the trash, I opened it, swatched one shade and immediately fell in love. That was maybe three years ago, and the eyeshadow in question was Stila Eye Shadow Pan in Compact in Diamond Lil ($18 for 0.09 oz), described as a 'shimmering metallic platinum'.
Fast forward to today and I finally crossed it off my neverending beauty wishlist. I was very much opposed to the idea of paying $18 for an eyeshadow single and always pushed Diamond Lil to the very bottom of my list, but when the opportunity arose to snag it at the Stila IMATS booth for $5, I went for it. And I'm really glad I did - not only because of the cool design of the minimalist, refillable (and depottable!) compacts.
My previous Stila eyeshadow experience came in the shape of their now discontinued E! Live from the Red Carpet set (love) and the In The Moment eyeshadow palette (mixed feels). I do think Stila makes some fabulous but underrated pearl and metallic shadows, a few solid mattes and a slew of dry, sheer satins with microglitter. But buttery soft and pigmented neutrals like Kitten and Diamond Lil? I'm all for that. I'm guessing their issue is how inconsistent those eyeshadow palettes can be, especially the 'special value' limited edition ones released around the Holidays; the subpar quality of shadows in such sets probably hurts their brand more than helps to popularize it.
But, back to Diamond Lil: it's one of those mid-tone, somewhat murky gunmetal greys with a fair bit of khaki green. I knew it'd be quite similar to my drying-out pot of Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Skinny Jeans, but Diamond Lil is a touch lighter and flashes more green than grey. Both are significantly less metallic than Inglot Pearl eyeshadow no. 153 and the taupe side of L'Oreal HiP Electrified Duo; I actually prefer the less reflective finish for everyday. Fyrinnae Feisty Fennec Fox swatches more golden olive than the Stila's shadow.
I was a bit surprised about the green pull of Diamond Lil but decided to play it up with some other atypical green-leaning shades from my collection. For this look, I used MAC eyeshadow in Vex all over the lid, Stila's Diamond Lil in the outer corner and blended into the crease, and Fyrinnae's Arcane Magic Electric Stardust mint glitter in the inner corner and layered over Diamond Lil along the lower lashline. I also thinly lined my upper lashline with Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Mildew, a dark hunter green. My base is an equal opportunity mix of Face Atelier Ultra Foundation in Porcelain and YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat in B20, and I have Stila Convertible Color in Lillium on my cheeks and Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait on the lips. I'm also trying out Benefit They're Real! mascara for the first time.
Do you like buying eyeshadow singles or are you a palette junkie? Have you ever tried any of the Stila Eye Shadow Compacts?

Spring Beauty Wishlist
Happy First Day of Spring! Still going strong on that make-up low-buy, peeps - which also means my wishlist is growing exponentially. Making wishlists is a great way of keeping your beauty spending in check; it's like bookmarking products for later consideration so you can avoid impulse buying and focus on things you really want (no, I mean - really really want. Including every new limited edition collection does NOT help). If your current lemming is still high on that list after a couple months - great, it might actually be worth treating yourself to. I might be alone in this, but adding things to my wishlist, deleting things, editing, rewriting, umming and aaahing over it - in short, delaying gratitude - makes me appreciate my new products a lot more when I decide it's finally time to pull the trigger. Plus, I can also shop around and wait for the best deal.
So here's a look at what's on top of my skincare & make-up wishlist at the moment:
1. By Terry Rouge Terrybly Age Defence Lipstick in Torrid Rose #303 ($49.50 for 0.12 oz/ 3.5g)
I've only ever sampled a face moisturizer from By Terry, but the brand is widely known for its fantastic lip products, with Rouge Terrybly formula coming highly recommended by many of my favorite blogging pals. Torrid Rose looks like a gorgeous deep rose pink, bright but not too much for every day. Not gonna lie though, I'm absolutely balking at the price - so I'm not going to buy unless I can find a nice deal.
2. Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads ($45 for 60 pads)
I'm still on the hunt for the best acid exfoliant for my skin - and while I've recently tried the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads and I'm in LOVE, I'd like to compare these ones from Peter Thomas Roth (both are Caroline Hirons' approved) so I can get back to you with my favorites. I originally wanted to save on these by getting the almost $10 cheaper Complexion Correction Pads but a quick look at the ingredients list convinced me otherwise; the latter are loaded with alcohol and an artificial peach bellini scent, so Un-Wrinkle it is.
3. Chantecaille Lip Chic ($35 for 2 g)
Again, on recommendation from some fabulous bloggers - and apparently, Chantecaille's best-selling lipstick formula. Lip Chics claim to be emollient, comfortable and glossy, with collagen for plump but not stinging lips. I haven't quite decided on the shade, but I like the look of Sunrise, a bright coral-pink, or Rose Delice, a bright pink.
4. Kevyn Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil in Ash Blonde ($26 for 0.3 oz)
I have actually just finished my eyebrow pencil, and the drugstore replacement by Revlon is just not the right shade. Gummy has recently put the Precision Brow to the test and liked it, and I've never tried anything from Kevyn Aucoin... so why not? The capless design seems a bit scary, but hey ho, living on the edge, and all that shiz.
5. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly ($29 for 0.22 oz/ 6 ml)
'Cause I've run out of the darn concealer as well. Kind of (says she, picking through three unsatisfactory back-ups at the bottom of the drawer). Though in all seriousness, my BECCA Dual Coverage Compact Concealer might be on its last legs - I still have plenty remaining in the pan, but lately the texture seems dry as a bone, and looks even drier on the skin. So you know. The NARS is a necessity. Or at least justifiable.
6. Paul & Joe Face Powder S, Secret Garden ($45 for 1.2 oz)
Now here's something that's completely UNjustifiable - I have way too many face powders, including the somewhat recent acquisition of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused. But... look at all the BIRDZ!!! And the pastel pretty BALLZ! I haz to have them *closes website for fear of accidentally adding them to the cart and speeding through the online checkout*
7. Kahina Giving Beauty 100% Organic Argan Oil ($36 for 30ml)
I'd be totally skeptical about paying this much for pure argan oil if I haven't tried a sample of this Kahina one - it absorbed like a dream, giving me beautiful, even-toned, glowing skin in the morning. This paired with FAB Facial Radiance Pads gave me a couple days of some of the best skin I've had in a long time, and that's something I don't say easily. I don't know, you guys - I might cheap out and get a less expensive brand, like Aura Cacia. Or I might not. It's amazing, anyway.
8. Shu Uemura Pressed Eyeshadow Refill in Iridescent Pink ($15, available in 25 shades)
Driveller Kate dedicated an entire post to Shu Uemura glitter eyeshadows, and while most shades she featured are discontinued/unavailable in the US, this is the single one that we can still get our grubby little mitts on. And so I shall, one day - I might also try some other favorites from this previously unexplored brand; I hear from Larie their lipsticks are also amazing.
9. Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in BE213 Nude ($33 for 1 oz)
Another brand I've never tried anything from - and again, beauty blogger recommended. I've been on a very subtle eye make-up kick, and I think this should fit the bill nicely. Speaking of Japanese eyeshadows, I would love to check out Suqqu eyeshadow quads some day, but I just can't stomach the Ichibankao mark-up or the Selfridges.com shipping fee; so in the meantime, I'd be more than happy to experiment with Shiseido.
Ooof, that's a lot of wants - all that wishlist dissecting has really made me hungry. You might notice a prevalence of high-end and luxury brands, as well as some Japanese inclinations; I guess this year I'd really like to try products from brands formerly unbeknownst to me, and since the number of my purchases has drastically decreased, I don't mind paying more for the few things that look interesting.
What's on your current beauty wishlist?
Holiday Sales Haul
I'd had my mind pretty made up that I wasn't going to buy anything during the Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sales - I didn't feel like I particularly needed anything and the things I wanted, I already put on my Christmas wishlist. But I just couldn't resist some of the bargains! Here's the damage:
I thought that Origins online store had one of the best deals floating around: $10 off $25 purchase + free shipping. I've been using a sample of their Drink-Up moisturizing mask for a couple weeks now, so I wanted to purchase that, and I also wanted to try the Clear Improvement charcoal mask. Origins offer these two products in the travel size (half of the normal tube) for $16 each so that was a fantastic buy.
Then, I was watching Ruth Crilly's (A Model Recommends) luxury Holiday gift guide video and she mentioned a beautifully packaged L'Occitane bath set. So, as you would, I casually wandered over to their website and found this gem: Almond Enchantment, reduced to $68 from $98 plus a $10 gift card and free shipping Cyber Monday deal. I just couldn't stop myself, it sounded so delicious and pampering! I've now already tried the Almond Shower Oil (after both me and Mr having spent at least 15 minutes trying to open the darn pump) and it feels wonderfully moisturizing on the skin and smells absolutely to die for; a must-have for winter. The gift set also came with a $15 of $55 coupon - I can already see myself picking some new treats up!
Actually, the first thing I purchased during the sales was the Bobbi Brown Corrector that I had my eye on for the longest time. They had a no minimum free shipping deal going on as well as a trio of deluxe samples + a mini lip gloss included with purchase. Unfortunately, the lip gloss shade doesn't really suit me but I will pass it on to my mum; I actually quite like the tiny little Bellini gloss that was included as well so it's all good.
Since I'm not a VIB at Sephora (although I have a strong feeling this is due to some technical error in my account - I think it's the fourth week now that I'm trying to resolve this issue with Sephora's customer service) I missed out on the sale earlier last month, which is why I then grabbed the opportunity to buy when they sent out their $15 off $50 cards last week. I only got two things I've had on my wishlist forever and ever: a Clarisonic replacement brush head and Laura Mercier Mineral Powder SPF 15 foundation. I will review at some point if it meets the expectations.
Lastly, my gifts with purchase and free samples - I did score quite a few! I used a code to get Sephora's Mystery Bag but overall was quite underwhelmed with the samples I received, especially compared to their earlier 'It Kit' release. I will do a review if anything stands out.
And that's it, I'm not buying any more beauty products until next year! Have you bought anything during the Holiday sales or are you waiting until Christmas? Tell me what you scored in the comments below!

Rocaille Redes: How to Shop for Clothes
Browsing through my closet recently, I've realized that I made a lot of clothing purchases this year - firstly, I had some more money than previous years and secondly, I needed a lot more work-appropriate options. However, looking back at the clothes and accessories I acquired, I came to the conclusion that only a portion of my buys were necessities and out of these, also not all are the things I love and wear regularly. Since going through a big closet clear-out these past two days and thinking through my clothing buying habits, I've decided to establish and enforce some 'clothes shopping rules' to spend my pennies more wisely and enjoy my purchases more. This is maybe a little different for my blog but it's something that's been on my mind a lot lately, so I figured I'd share and maybe get some more tips from you guys in exchange; how does that sound?
1. Be yourself. Take a good look at what you have and think about the things you like to wear the most - allow yourself to be you and enjoy your favorite things, no matter what other people are buying; follow only the trends that you like. For me, I've always preferred more fitted t-shirts to the larger boxy designs that are all the rage right now and also, I'm on my feet a lot so heels can only be a special occasion shoe for me, even though I love how glamorous they look on others and how much they elongate the legs.
2. Don't hesitate to buy things with a very specific purpose if you need them. I'd put off buying rain boots for 3 years even though I live in the Seattle area and I have one old battered swimming suit that doesn't fit because 'Oh, I don't really need it all that often'. This is just plain ridiculous.
3. Splurge on staples and classic wardrobe pieces. Why do I still use a $2 fraying pleather belt with my dress pants? It's alright to spend more on things you wear regularly and which don't go out of style for a long time, like a timeless white oxford shirt (that I personally still don't have), black slacks, good quality camis, opaque black tights.
4. Only settle for the best when shopping for your staples. Trendy little pieces can come and go but don't buy the basic building blocks of your closet because 'they're ok, I guess'. They need to be perfect (in your respective price range, of course!).
5. Before going out to shop, take a last good look at your closet; pay attention to colors, fits, lenghts, textures and patterns of the pieces you own. It will help you avoid buying very similar things to what you already have as well as allow you to visualize possible pairings and outfit ideas. Also, keep a running wishlist that reflects what your wardrobe might be currently lacking; try to shop more for necessities rather than immediate likes.
6. Only buy if a piece fits (almost) perfectly and feels comfortable on (that means trying things on, and occasionally returning an item, peeps). Remember how your favorite clothes and shoes are the ones that fit like a glove! This year alone I've bought two pairs of ballet flats that simply don't fit my very narrow feet, what a waste :(
7. Every once in a while, identify a group of items that you're banned from purchasing; i.e. things that you already have a lot of. It's fine to have more of the things you wear regularly, like tank tops or scarves for me, but realistically, how many do you actually need? Going through my drawers, I officially don't need any more long-sleeved tops or Victoria's Secret bras - so I'm giving up buying these items until I decide to downsize what I already have.
This is it for now - I'm sure I'm forgetting something but it's a start. I'm thinking of posting similar shopping 'rules and regulations' for make-up, as well as a separate guide on downsizing your stash and making the most of your collection; I have more deep thoughts, people! Let me know if that is something you'd be interested in reading, and don't forget to share your best shopping tips in the comments :)

Spring 2011 Wishlist
"Just browsing" at Sephora never ends well and here I am, lusting after a lot of beautiful make-up and some amazing skincare to make myself appear more radiant and romantic this Spring. I've thought I'd share, in case anyone's interested...

1. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb EDP, $25-$100. Yes, I still want this perfume and I can't quite understand why it has to be so pricey. I can't even justify the rollerball version for now, given that I haven't used up a perfume bottle in probably 2 years.
2. Korres Blush in 'Peach', $24. Well, I want either this or the lighter shade of the Monoi bronzer. I've been really into blush lately, and surely I don't have enough shimmery peachy shades?
3. MAC 'Costa Chic' lipstick, $14.50. Because I simply need an everyday coral for the warm season, and the ones I have don't quite cut it...
4. Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eyeliner pencil in 10L, $17. I actually don't have a bronzy eyeliner, and seeing that I use brown liners a lot, I thought this would be amazing with just a touch of sparkly cream eyeshadow on the lid.
5. Urban Decay Naked Palette, $48. I know, I know! I keep on trying to convince myself that I don't need it and have a ton of neutrals already, but somehow this doesn't defer me from still wanting it. Could I get it for Easter/ name day/ graduation, please?
6. OPI Texas Collection 'It's Totally Fort Worth It!', $6. It just looks so pretty in the bottle, I oogled it today at Bartell Drugs (since when do they carry OPI?) and loved the subtle pink shimmer. I wonder though whether it's more like Revlon 'Perplex' on the nails in that the duochrome is virtually invisible, which would be a shame.
7. Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner, $18. I'd like to have an AHA exfoliant in my arsenal to boost my skincare routine a couple days a week, as I feel that regular scrubs can sometimes be too harsh on my skin.
8. Mario Badescu Healing Cream, $17. I'm really liking the simple and short ingredients' list and would love to see how it works on acne scarring. So far, I'm enjoying my Soothing & Healing Mask sample, which contains the same key ingredient, Balsam Peru, so I have high hopes for this.
There you have it! I'm sure there's more products I forgot to include (and the orchid in the collage was just for decoration, but I'd like one too if you insist)... What's on your wishlist this Spring?

Summer wishlist
I'm on a self-inflicted shopping ban at the moment, which doesn't have that much to do with my account's balance, but more with the fact that, as some of you may know, I'll be moving continents towards the end of June and settling permanently (or as permanently as it can be for me) in the evergreen state of Washington. I'm looking forward to the move, but not so much to packing my stuff into two suitcases! Hence the ban and, of course, a growing wishlist I'd like to share with you today.

Interestingly enough, most of those products are unavailable here, but easily accessible in the States... In all honesty that might be the first reason I haven't got them yet.
1. LUSH Fresh Farmacy facial cleansing bar: I'm very much enjoying using my Sebamed facial bar, so I thought of trying a more natural version next. Thanks to calamine, chamomile, rose and tea tree oil it has a soothing and gently cleansing effect. It's supposed to smell like Dream Cream, which I've grown very fond of.
2. LUSH Tea Tree Water: I wanted to get it last time when I visited the other side of the pond, but finally decided against, and regretted it ever since. Contains tea tree, grapefruit and juniperberry water, whatever it is.
3. Jergens Glow Healthy Complexion Daily Facial Moisturizer: What a mouthful! This oil-free gradual self-tanner with SPF 20 seems to be a perfect 3 in 1 product: moisturizer, sunscreen and sunless tan.
4. China Glaze nail polishes: I'd love a nice, creamy pastel yellow shade like Happy Go Lucky, as well as some nice, bright corals and pinks for summer. Any recommendations?
5. The Body Shop bronzer in Shade 01: I've heard great things about this matte bronzing powder, it's described as a non orange, warm shade, and I think might compliment my skintone a bit better than Hoola, which at times I feel is a bit too yellow.
6. L'Oreal HIP cream liner in Midnight Blue: Love this color, I defo have a soft spot for navy blue eyeliners!
7. NYX powder blushers in Peach and Pinky: I use their Angel shade every other day, and this two colors really appeal to me, I'm especially curious to try Pinky, a super bright, cool toned fuschia pink, supposedly a dupe for NARS Desire or MAC Tippy from the Hello Kitty collection.
8. MAC Viva Glam Cyndi lipstick: I don't care for Gaga, but Cyndi, a reddish, buildable coral shade, screams my name.
9. Revlon Super Lustrous lipglosses in Coral Reef and Firecracker: I've neglected my lipgloss collection a bit in favor of lipsticks, and these two would be a very welcomed addition judging from the swatches I've seen.
What's on your summer wishlist? xxx

Birthday wishlist
My birthday is getting closer and closer and I've been thinking for quite some time about the things I'd like to get (possibly because I'm that shallow), so I thought I might as well share my cravings with you :) My 23rd birthday is on the 7th of September, 2 days after the wedding. I'm sure there'll be enough alcohol left after the big day to celebrate it too!

It all started with me wanting badly Benefit's Creaseless Cream eyeshadow in Skinny Jeans. This product is available in Poland, but when I saw its whopping price in Sephora, I decided I'd rather ask my fiance to pick that up for me, there's a Shopper's Drugmart with a Benefit counter about 3 minutes walk from our apartment so he can make that sacrifice... Then I thought I might as well ask him for some bits and bobs from Lush since they're unavailable in Poland, maybe a solid perfume I could carry with me... I'd also love some new stud earrings, these rose shaped ones are really adorable and elegant; I'm saving this wish for my mum, I know she'll pick something beautiful. To finish off, I'm really enjoying wide waist belts at the moment, and I think this plum shade is perfect for autumn. And, lastly, speaking of autumn, a nice square scarf would be ideal for chilly days.
What do you think of my birthday wishlist? Anything else I have to have? xxx

Summer wishlist
Since I'm on a spending diet, I have a ton of different lemmings right now; clothes, shoes, accessories, nail polish, lipstick... Maybe I'll somehow get over it once I share it with you, and if not, at least I'll remember what to look for in 2 weeks :)
I'm planning to post a little farewell series next week, just before I go back to Poland - thanks for a great suggestion, Ondine! You'll see my make-up station here in our Vancouver apartment, maybe best beauty products I discovered while in Canada, and some most memorable photos taken during the past couple of months. Hope you'll enjoy that...!
On to my lemmings:
Thanks to Hele, I have a massive nail polish obsession right now. I'll certainly look for bright summer shades, including hot pinks and lilacs, and some more neutral varnishes in cream finishes. I can't wait to check out Essence nail polish recently recommended by Miss Chievous, since it's such a cheapo treat! I'm also lemming a peach blusher or lipstick, or maybe both...
In terms of clothing, I have absolutely no decent sandals, so that's a must, along with another cardi, this time a blue one; unfortunately, the purple one got torn during the trip to Vancouver Island! This summer wouldn't be complete without some nice accessories like wooden bangles and these amazing peacock earrings, would it?
So what's on your summer wishlist?
