Uber glamorous cleansing combo

Some sensitive skin types value Vichy, others La Roche Posay or Avene... And your humble Rocaille is in love with Johnson&Johnson baby line, and she even dares to claim it's damn better than any other cleansing solution she has ever tried.

A lesson in the Polish language: ' oliwka w żelu' - 'baby oil in gel' :)
Here they are, J&J baby oil in a gel form with camomile extracts, which claims to retain 10 times more moisture in the skin than an average body lotion, and J&J Top-to-toe baby wash, which can be used as a face and body wash, shampoo and a bath foam. BTW, the Head-to-toe baby wash sold in the UK and the US is not exactly the same product as some of the ingredients are different, but I heard it has the same properties. It comes in a 500ml bottle with a handy pump and best of all, costs about £3!

While some of you probably know how baby oil works miracles in removing particularly stubborn mascaras and waterproof eyeliners, probably not everyone heard about the benefits of using a baby wash. Brilliant Farmgirl explained everything perfectly on her blog here, and I'll just add that so far it's my HG face wash. It's dirt cheap, super delicate, leaves your skin soft and smelling sweet like a baby, and overall great for my acne-prone, extremely oily skin, as it doesn't dry it out which usually leads to even more breakouts. I also use it on my decollete because I've been experiencing some problems there as well, and I think the texture of my skin there has noticeably improved since I started using it. If you're on a lookout for a new cleansing routine, definitely give it a go.

Have you recently discovered any amazing products for just a couple of pounds/dollars?

  1. Wow! i really find this very interesting, indeed! I just wanted to know if you use the baby oil/gel all over your face or just for removing eye makeup. I find it scary with my acne prone skin!

  3. @Catanya: I use it only for my eyes before washing the whole make-up off with the baby wash, I'd be a bit scared to use it on the whole face too :) But the wash removes any make-up that's left on the skin, I used a micelle solution toner afterwards and there was nothing, no dirt on the cotton pad.

  5. I will have to give this a try! I heard baby wipes also do a great job of taking makeup off -- I guess what's good enough for a baby's bum is good enough for us. LOL.

  8. It's funny how you dont believe that products will work if they are cheap as chips...

these bad boys prove us wrong. I think once all my products are used (i'm secretly TRYING not to buy any new products) I am going to go back to basics with humbling little numbers such as these.

  9. @Marie: I definitely recommend it! I also tried to use up as many products as I could before flying back to Poland, especially that I promised myself I won't open my Yes Yes Yes lip butter before I finish the other Body Shop lip thingy I have... I might have something like 5 uses left! xxx

  15. I agree that these products are the best. I am a huge fan of Dove and it doesn't make my skin break out and I love it. Johnson and Johnson is another great product. Way to encourage us to save our $$!

  18. Hi hun!

I'm so happy it's working out for you! And thanks for the shout-out, sweetie :D I'm envious that you got the Top & Toe, we don't have that here in California and I've heard great things about it. Nice tip on the baby oil!

  20. I used to use baby oil back in the day to remove my makeup. My mom still uses it; she's 70 and have awesome skin. I totally agree with Tali that sometimes the simplest things are best. I really need to get back to basics with my skin care...I'd much rather spend the money on cosmestics.
