Hey sweetie! I thought I left a comment here last night, but it didn't work for some reason. :( So here I am again. I think the new banner is very sweet and girlie, but I think you'd need to consider changing the background, too. :)
Answering your question. We do use "an essay" here. :) "Attempt" is the same is "a try".

Oh, I know about 'essay', I was just teasing you :) In fact, English and French are both foreign languages for me, so that was just an 'out-of-the-blue' linguistic remark.

I like the new header my only suggestion is to change the colour of the text...to either a softer black or a deep burgundy. Hope that helps!
