Review & Swatches: Face Atelier Façade in Arabesque

Face Atelier is one of those brands that I've always heard a lot of positive things about but never really took the plunge - for one, I have no way of seeing it in person and playing around with, plus the price point is not necessarily conductive to happy splurging. But, when I saw it on HauteLook one day... I couldn't really say no, could I?
Right up front I have to say that Face Atelier Façade in Arabesque ($26 for 8ml/0.33 fl oz) is one the best multi-purpose products I've tried with the least appealing packaging ever - even Wet'n'Wild $0.99 lipsticks look better than this. Also, I might be a French language snob, but where's the cédille, Face Atelier? Huh?
Those minor squabbles aside, the product inside is absolutely gorgeous. Face Atelier Façades are lip and cheek stains with supreme texture and longevity; they're smooth as silk and blend out like a dream but stay put throughout the day (again, the wonders of silicones in action). Arabesque is somewhat of a cross between muted brick red and rusty apricot, beautifully warm and natural on my complexion. Below you can see it swatched on my arm next to some other warmer cream blushes in my collection, as well as applied to my cheeks and lips. Gorgeous, right?

Definitely, that first encounter with the brand has got me interested to try their other products, and I'm already lusting after other shades of their Façades. I'm for sure taking this one with me on my upcoming vacation next month!

In other news, I've had my hair touched up recently; I've decided to go for a more angular A-line bob with shorter bangs... and some copper and golden brown highlights. I wanted to have my hair appear a bit more red than it naturally is (by the way, the lighting in these photos always brings out the warm tones) and that fine-weave foil definitely accomplished that. The golden brown was added for dimension, but it matches my natural color so closely that it's mostly invisible. How do you like my new 'do?
Have you ever tried anything from Face Atelier? What is your favorite lip and cheek stain?

  1. Ah, your hair looks so good!! I've never heard of this brand before but I love how it looks as a cream blush on you. Pity the packaging is so bland.

  2. Well I was about to say that your hair is growing LOADS! You look very pretty!

The only thing I ever tried from Face Atelier is a sample of their foundation and I didn't like it :( Having no direct access to their products, I haven't really had a look at anything else.

    1. I know, it's crazy! I had it cut two weeks ago and my bangs are already down to my eyebrows again!

I got the foundation too and so far so good - it looks really flawless on the skin!

  3. I've never tried that brand! Haha! the packaging does look pretty sad :P
The color definitely makes up for the not-so-attractive packaging though :P

  6. I agree about the packaging. Hate it when brands cheap out. (Looking at you, Tom Ford, and your peel-off labels.)

The shade itself, though, looks fab. As do you! I'm with Liz on the face-stealing.
